Upstairs too hot? Check the attic first.
A local pro measures how much insulation you have, checks how the attic breathes, and finds where air leaks in. Free, with photos, and no pressure.
About a minuteNo account, no cardOne company, not ten
- Measured, not guessed. You see the depth and what it adds up to.
- One company, not ten. Your number goes to one local pro.
- A written quote if it needs work. You decide from there.
You're all set.
We'll call you to set a time that works. If you miss us, we'll text.
Clear a path to the attic hatch or pull-down stairs if you can. That's all they need.
Three steps, and most checks take under an hour.

A local pro calls
You pick a time. They'll tell you their company name before anyone shows up.
See what they found
They measure, take photos, and if it needs work, give you a written quote. Yes or no is up to you.
The joist test takes two minutes.
Pop your head up through the attic hatch and look at the wooden beams running across the floor.
If you can see the tops of the beams, the insulation is level with them or lower, and there is probably not enough.
If the beams are buried and you can't see them, you may already be fine. The check will confirm it either way, and there's no charge to hear "you're good".
Book my free attic checkInsulation is only half of it.
More insulation over leaky gaps or a stuffy attic doesn't do much. A proper check covers all four.
- 1
Depth and coverage
How many inches you have, what it adds up to, and any bare or packed-down patches.
- 2
Air leaks
Gaps around light fixtures, pipes, wiring, the attic hatch and wall tops let conditioned air escape. These get sealed before anything is added.
- 3
Ventilation
Air should come in low at the eaves and leave high at the ridge. If it can't, the attic cooks in summer and holds moisture in winter.
- 4
Moisture
Bath fans venting into the attic, damp wood, dark stains or mold.
ENERGY STAR estimates homeowners save an average of 15% on heating and cooling costs by sealing air leaks and adding insulation.

A hot attic is hard on the roof, too.
When an attic can't breathe, summer heat builds up under the shingles and they age faster. Winter moisture can rot the decking from the inside.
That's why we ask if you want the roof looked at on the same visit. One trip up the ladder, one set of photos. Roof check only?
Before you book
Is the check really free?
Yes. If it needs work, you get a written quote. You can say no and owe nothing.
Who actually comes out?
A local insulation or roofing company we work with. They'll give you their company name when they call, before anyone comes to the house.
Am I going to get a pile of calls?
No. Your details go to one company, not a list of contractors bidding for the job.
Is there a tax credit?
The federal tax credit for insulation ended for work done after 2025. Duke Energy has run insulation rebates in North Carolina before. Ask the company what's available now, and don't let anyone promise you a rebate they can't show you in writing.
How long does the work take?
For most homes, adding blown-in insulation is a single day. Air sealing and ventilation work can add time. The quote will say.
Do I need to be home?
Yes for the check. They need to get into the attic and walk you through the photos.
Who is RooFinder?
We connect homeowners with local roofing and insulation companies. We don't do the work ourselves, and the company pays us a referral fee if you hire them. You deal with them directly and pay them, not us.
